HOW TO GET INTO SHAPE
In order to complete the Hærvejen Hike, it is important that you have tried to walk long distances for several days in a row. At www.ivv-web.org you can find information on many long distance hikes throughout the country.
THE HÆRVEJEN CHAIN
When you have completed the Hærvejen Hike 300 km., you will receive a Hærvejen chain. New pendants are attached in the following years. The pemdamts are copies of the historical finds and Rune stones.
When you have completed the 200 km on the Hærvejen Hike, upon arrival to Viborg you will receive a medal (a runestone). Every 5th year you will receive a new medal and in between you receive numbers.
Every year all particitants receive a diploma as a memory.
HOW DOES THE HIKE PROCEED?
Saturday 9th July, all participants will gather in Schleswig. If you come from Denmark, you can travel by bus to Schleswig. You can be picked up along the way through Jutland.
Overnight accommodation is organised in halls and classrooms at schools. It is possible to rent a camp bed for the Hærvejen Hike. The price is €50 for the entire week. You must bring an air matress as well as a sleeping bag.
The luggage will be transported from start to the overnight location every day. You only need to carry the clothes etc. you will need during the day.
Breakfast and dinner are provided by local inns, and we dine in a room at the accommodation. If you want vegetarian food this must be ordered at registration. Along the way there are rest areas where you can buy food and drinks. Water posts are also set up. At rest place 2 there is delivery of free soup.
There is a sanitation service on the trip, provided by people with many years experience in fixing blisters and walking damage. The service will be ready at the overnight accommodation and at the rest areas They can always be sent for in the event of emergency injuries while out hiking.
After the finish line is reached in Viborg, there will be buses driving back to Schleswig.
